Fun “We Are Young” For Orchestra by Walt Ribeiro
“We can burn brighter than the sun”
Ballad. That’s what I heard in this piece. I wanted full, lush chords. I wanted the notes to breathe, because I felt it would be incredibly powerful. And the ending reminds me of what got me involved in arranging in the first place - feeling.
This was quite a change for me, because I usually create fast, dramatic arrangements. Released on September 2011, I always enjoyed this song ever since I first heard it, and as the weeks went by I got so many requests for it that I had to do it for you all. I don’t know if it’s just me, but arranging ballads are incredibly difficult - and as challenging as this arrangement was I hope you love this change of pace.
This all got me thinking - that less than 2 years ago I arranged The Ramones ‘I Wanna Be Sedated’ as a ballad, and I can’t believe how much I’ve grown. Growth is such an important part of life because it makes us stay interested in the interesting, continually striving to follow our passion, and enabling us to grow as individuals.
And that’s what this piece resembles to me. You should never stop growing, never stop trying, and never stop doing what you love to do. I’ve learned to be patient, because appreciation and growth are much more visible in the rear view mirror - the trick is to stay on the road.

DJ Bedbugs - Snoopy Spice (Snoop Dogg vs. Spice Girls)
Increasingly it looks like this process will yield two or three good songs and no second album, but I’ll keep working on it. At the very least I’ll put out a one-year edition w/ bonus tracks to stick it to

Norwegian Recycling - How Six Songs Collide
- Jason Mraz - I’m Yours
- Howie Day - Collide
- Five For Fighting - Superman
- Angela Ammons - Always Getting Over You
- Boyzone - All That I Need
- 3 Doors Down - Here Without You
i’ve posted a few mashups by norwegian recycling before, but never this one. that’s strange, because it’s my favourite.
i also may or may not have a strong emotional connection to “i’m yours” by jason mraz and “collide” by howie day.
